Also required at the time of registration is the May 2011 tuition (to be held in an escrow-like account until May 2011) which may be refundable providing specific conditions are adhered to. Children enrolled in the program must have reached their second birthday by September 1, 2010; their third birthday by September 1, 2010; or their fourth birthday by September 1, 2010. The Director reserves the right to request withdrawal of any child at any time for reasons deemed necessary by her. Your child's final acceptance into the 4CCN program is conditional upon receipt of the medical form which is due in the nursery office no later than June 1, 2011. back to top

Tuition

[For 2009 - 2010] The tuition for the two-day-a-week program will be $1980.00 annually, which is payable in monthly installments of $220.00, September through April (May is paid at registration). The tuition for the three-day-a-week program will be $2520.00 annually, which is payable in monthly installments of $280.00, September through April (May is paid at registration). The tuition for the five-day-a-week program will be $3600.00 annually, which is payable in monthly installments of $400.00, September through April (May is paid at registration). The Director may be consulted regarding emergency assistance in special cases of financial need.

Your tuition is due the first consecutive Thursday and Friday of each month. Make checks payable to 4 Corners Community Nursery.

If a tuition check is not received on the above dates, there will be a delinquent fee of $20.00 per week. We do not expect you to make a special trip to bring in the tuition if your child is sick. You may mail in your tuition and the date of the postmark will be considered the date of payment. A $25.00 fee will be charged for a returned check.

Dropouts must give a month's notice. The May 2011 tuition is refundable provided the Director is contacted at least thirty (30) days prior to the withdrawal of your child. back to top

Medical Examination

No child shall be admitted to the nursery without a completed written report of medical examination. The report must be completed on a standardized form supplied by the Maryland State Health Department, and will be given to you at the time of registration. Children already enrolled and returning for another year do not need to complete a new form. back to top

4CCN Policies

Please refer to the following policies for general information. Contact the office (301-681-9520) for more information. back to top

Closings and Delays

When Montgomery County Public Schools are closed because of snow or other emergencies, our nursery will also be closed. When County schools have a delayed opening, the nursery will delay its opening the same length of time. MCPS will notify radio and TV stations of the decision, usually by 6:00am. If it is necessary to close schools early, our nursery will close at 11:45am. Radio and TV stations will be notified usually by 11:00am. When opening is delayed two hours, the two-year-old classes will remain until 1:15pm. Threes and fours will be dismissed at the regular time. Check the 4CCN home page for an announcement on closings, delayed openings or early dismissal.

Information from Montgomery County Public Schools about school operations is announced publicly as soon as possible on local radio and television stations and other media including the Internet: MCPS Web home page displays emergency announcements; Schools-Out.com on the Internet (sign up for automatic e-mail notification); MCPS Telephone information service at 301-279-3673; MCPS Cable Channel 60 (converter box), Channel 6 (cable ready) or Channel 34 (digital); local radio and television stations. If schools are closed or delayed, the announcement is made no later than 6:00 a.m. (or the night before if possible). If schools are closing early, the announcements are made by 11:00 a.m. Weekend decisions are made by the county's Interagency Coordinating Board for the use of public facilities, but the same media list is used.

Alert MCPS

Alert MCPS is a way that you can receive text messages or e-mail from Montgomery County Public Schools during weather-related emergencies and other major events that impact school system operations. Alert MCPS is administered by Montgomery County Public Schools and is part of the Montgomery County Alert System. Sign up here back to top

Dismissal

Dismissal time for the two-year-olds is 12:15pm and 1:15pm for the three- and four-year-olds. Please pick up promptly. A $5.00 fee will be charged for pickup between 12:15 and 12:30pm (1:15 and 1:30pm), and $1.00 per minute after 12:30pm (1:30pm) will be assessed the parent, regardless of car pool arrangements. This fee will be payable to the teacher, the next class day.

Even if your child knows the person who is picking him up, we will not release the child unless: a) it is the regular pickup person whom the teacher recognizes; or b) you, the parent, have contacted the nursery and have identified by name the pickup person.

If your child is going home with a friend from class rather than the regular pickup person, you must provide that information to the teacher in a written note. back to top

Illness

We request that you keep your child at home if he has even the slightest hint of illness. If he attends the nursery when he is ill, he is likely to infect others and to aggravate his own illness. If your child becomes ill during the day, we will call you -- or the relative or neighbor designated on the white emergency card -- to come pick him up. Please notify us immediately if there is a change in the emergency information. Our policy on runny noses is if the mucus is discolored, your child must remain at home. If you child is ill with a fever, he or she must remain at home for 24 hours without a fever.

Our goal is healthy children! Please be advised that we will send home any child who appears to us to be unwell.

The Maryland State Department of Health states that the director or teacher may not administer medication of any kind to a child, except by written instructions from your doctor. Please let the director or the teacher know if your child is absent because of a communicable disease (such as chicken pox, strep throat, pink eye, etc). Other parents need to know their child has been exposed. back to top

Convalescent Children

Children not well enough to go outside with their class should be kept home. We do not have sufficient personnel to stay inside with a child who is convalescing. Both teachers must be with their class when in the outdoor area for the safety of the class. back to top

Toilet Training

Two-year-olds do not need to be toilet trained.

We hope our three-year-olds will be fully toilet trained, however, if they are not they may come to school wearing "pull ups". We will not change them, and if a child has a bowel movement in the "pull up" a parent or caregiver will need to come to school to change the child.

Four-year-olds must be completely toilet trained. back to top

Clothing

Your child is attending our nursery to work as well as play. To make him comfortable, dress your child in play clothes. We will be painting, gluing, playing in water, etc., which will require clothes that can get dirty. Please don't hinder your child's development by telling him, "Don't get this outfit dirty." Be sure your child's clothing (sweaters, hats, coats, gloves, boots, etc) is marked with his name. When "boot weather" arrives, a plastic bag over the shoe makes it easier for the child to put on his own boots. back to top

Lunches

Each child is to bring a lunch with a non-breakable cup to hold the milk we furnish. We suggest that you do not wrap the sandwiches in baggies or plastic wrap because these are hard for little hands to manage. A piece of waxed paper is best since it can also serve as a tablecloth. We request that you not include candy or gum in the lunch because this is a temptation for the other children at the table. back to top

Hazard Insurance

Each child attending our nursery is covered through Patuxent Insurance Company by a Preschool Activities Policy. This policy covers each child while on the church premises during school hours and on field trips, as well as traveling to and from the nursery. back to top

Observation Room

The observation room will be open the first two weeks so you may observe your child's adjustment. After this time, it will be open between 9:15am and 12:30pm. Whenever possible, plan your observation so that you do not bring other children with you. For the safety of all, never allow anyone to knock or bang on the windows. back to top

Parent-Teacher Conferences

For students in the three- and four-year-old classes, scheduled conferences will be held in January so you may discuss your child's progress. The two-year-old class teacher does not hold scheduled conferences but will be available whenever you have questions or concerns. Prior to conference time a sign-up sheet will be posted outside the classroom door so you may schedule a time convenient for you. Discussing your child with the teacher in his presence (such as in the doorway of the room) is unwise. Your child understands he is being discussed and may pattern his behavior accordingly. Make an appointment for a conference anytime during the year if you have a concern. back to top

Board of Directors

The Board of Directors makes decisions concerning nursery policy. This Committee is composed of the Director, two teachers and six parents. The names of the teachers and parents will be announced in our October monthly newsletter. Any concerns you may have should be brought to the attention of a Committee member for discussion at the next meeting. The Committee meets in November and May. back to top

Code of Behavior

It is the aim of the nursery to provide an environment that allows a child to develop to his fullest potential. A child whose behavior intrudes on the rights of others will not be sanctioned, and a conference will be held between teacher and parents to seek ways to best help the child. A child will be asked by the teacher and the director to withdraw if reasonable improvement does not occur within a specified period of time. back to top

Field Trips

Maryland's new child safety seat law goes into effect on June 30, 2008. The new law requires that all children younger than eight years of age be secured in a federally approved child safety seat according to the safety seat and vehicle manufacturers' instructions, unless the child is 4 feet, 9 inches or taller, or weighs more than 65 pounds. The child restraint must be right for the child's size, age, and weight. Each individual parent is responsible for providing the safety seat. back to top

4CCN Parking Policy

4CCN has permission from the church for our parents to use the large parking lot on the east side of the building. In normal circumstances, adequate spaces will be available. Please park in marked spaces only (i.e., not on the grass). For safety reasons, 4CCN parents may NOT park or stand along the drive on the south side of the church. The small parking lot on the north side of the church is reserved for church and employee parking. This lot is reserved for permit parking only. 4CCN parents are not to use this lot.

To facilitate traffic flow in the parking lot, please enter the lot by the first driveway (closest to Colesville Road) and exit by the second driveway.

The 4CCN Board of Directors has developed the following procedure for dealing with persons who ignore the parking regulations, and fines will be assessed to the parent regardless of carpool arrangements: 1) on the first offense you will be assessed a $10.00 fine payable with the next tuition; 2) If not paid with the next tuition we will require that your child be withdrawn from the nursery; 3) Subsequent offenses may require that your child be withdrawn from the nursery. back to top

Security System

All exterior doors will be closed and locked throughout the day with the following exceptions to accommodate nursery parents and children. Door #3 (located on the south side of the building near the west wing) will be unlocked from 9:00 to 9:30am . 12:00 - 12:30, and 1:00 to 1:30pm so parents may drop off and pick up their children. To provide access to the building when it is occupied but the doors are locked, an intercom and door lock release have been installed on door #3 permitting the nursery staff to let people in at that door only. Occasionally no one will be available to answer the doorbell. When this occurs, walk to the north side of the building and ring the doorbell attached to door #1. Someone from the church office will admit you. back to top
