Since 1969, the play-based program at 4 Corners Community Nursery School (4CCN) has provided children with meaningful opportunities to develop listening skills, strengthen attention spans, follow directions, think independently, practice problem-solving skills, and begin building a strong foundation in reading and mathematics, all while growing in confidence and self-esteem.
4CCN is a nonprofit, state licensed program. No child will be discriminated against because of race, color, national and ethnic origin, or disability. We offer your child a chance to spend time in a physical environment that is scaled to and planned for with a minimum of negative regulations about what they cannot touch or do.
Each age group meets in large, separate, well-equipped classrooms. Age-appropriate, play-based activities include free play, arts and crafts, music, story time, and outdoor play in a large, fenced, fully equipped playground. A spacious indoor playroom is available during inclement weather.
Children enjoy a nutritious mid-morning snack and lunch with their classmates. We provide the snack and milk served at lunch; families are asked to send a bag lunch from home for their child.
Your child's skills will be enhanced through:
Language Arts – Stories, finger plays, and flannel boards help children make early connections between the spoken and printed word, while enhancing vocabulary development, visual discrimination, and alphabet recognition.
Dramatic Play – Encourages children to engage in imaginative and creative play as they explore the roles of many different people.
Math – Counting, sorting, classifying, weighing, and measuring help children develop early math skills, including number concepts, number recognition, and whole/part relationships.
Manipulatives – Puzzles, beads, and other tabletop materials support the development of eye-hand coordination, an essential skill for early reading and writing.
Social Studies – Celebrating holidays, participating in field trips, and welcoming visits from community helpers (such as dentists, police officers, firefighters, and rescue personnel) enhance children’s awareness of the world around them.
Art – Arts and crafts, painting, drawing, coloring, cutting, and gluing encourage creative expression while reinforcing fine motor skills and eye-hand coordination.
Music – Musical activities support listening skills, attention span, coordination, creative expression, and an awareness of self.
Health and Safety – Children learn personal hygiene practices, such as hand-washing and bathroom skills, as well as personal safety and respect for the safety of others.
Notice of Nondiscrimination: 4CCN admits students of any race, color, national and ethnic origin to all the rights, privileges, programs, and activities generally accorded or made available to students at the school. It does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national and ethnic origin in administration of its educational policies, admissions policies, scholarship and loan programs, and other school-administered programs.
